Since having my twins, the only books I have been reading are what I call “elliptical books.” They need to be interesting enough to distract me from the pain of cardio but not so interesting that I can’t put it down after a 30-45 minute workout. My favorites for elliptical books are mystery, romance, or a combination of the two.
The latest book from Nora Roberts is perfect for this category. It follows a similar pattern to her other trilogies, three couples coming together to face a supernatural force as well as bonding together. The first in her new Guardians Trilogy follows the story of Sasha Riggs, who has the gift of Sight and is also a talented artist who draws and paints, and Bran Killian, an Irish sorcerer. Sasha brings the group together both geographically (Corfu) and emotionally, each with powers unshared initially, as they try to learn to trust each other and take on a dark power in search for the first of the mythical stars hidden on earth. This book was all it was advertised and was a great elliptical book!
