Memorial Day in the South


Memorial Day brings reflection on the United States military conflicts and all the persons who died fighting.  Whether you are visiting cemeteries or spending time with family, check out the links below if you want to know more about the holiday.

I loved this article from NPR on the school in Mississppi that each year gives students the opportunity to discover about ordinary people  and honor their memories and lives with performances.  You can read more about this award-winning project from their site as well.


I really dig historical movies, so I’m hoping that the new one based on the USS Indianapolis is as interesting as it looks!  Filmed on the USS Alabama, the film follows the story of the men tasked with delivering bomb components for the atomic weapon during WWII. Here’s the trailer if you haven’t seen it yet.
