Earlier this month I took a cooking class at my local Sur la Table, which I have wanted to do for a long time. We took the “Perfect pizza from scratch” menu, making two pizzas each. We were greeted with aprons by the chef, and since it was a small class we had lots of great one-on-one time with her. After going over the recipe, we mixed and rolled out our dough on our peels.
Then we added the ingredients that we had prepared while our dough had been rising. The first was Classic Margherita with Fresh Mozzarella and Basil and the second was Italian Sausage Pizza with Caramelized Onion and Kale (I skipped the sausage on this one and added tomatoes). They were both delicious and I learned several new techniques.
On both pizzas our chef encouraged us to drizzle some balsamic vinegar on top of each pizza after cooked. I was skeptical, but it was so great with all the flavors. It’s also on sale right now, although still pricey, for $24. A little goes a long way too!
We all had a great time, and I would highly recommend the class!
